Back in Business (?)

Now that the Hordes update came upon us, it is time for a preliminary inspection of the changes to Skorne:

Master Tormentor Morghoul – No changes, but was fun to play with already.

Lord Assassin Morghoul - His feat was made completely defensive now and has limited usability as it can be extremely easily avoided. Against gun lines it might be useful early on to get closer. However, he got Arcane Assassin, Blind on his second weapon (Fan of Shadows), and an upkeepable Hordes-killer spell that just gives grievous wound to everybody in his control and no soul tokens either. Overall he seems a bit more like an assassin. Will have to see if you still can play him as fast as his vanish version. Oh, he also has 6 beast points now.

Archdomina Makeda – She lost riposte, making her more killable, but no major changes. I prefer her epic version, but she still seems to be solid.

Supreme Archdomina Makeda – Lost overtake making her less of an engine of destruction. For me personally that is not a huge deal as I kill big targets with her and leave the grunt work to the grunts.

Lord Tyrant Hexeris – It seems Hexeris decided to go home and to look for his balls. Lucky for Skorne players, he found them and with Mordikaar’s help managed to re-attach them. He is AMAZING now. He got Obliteration and Soulfire as nukes, Psychic Vampire to counter enemy casters (like druids or mages pushing you around), and best of all: He got Soul Slave, allowing him to turn a warbeast into an arcnode. Combine that with his two nukes, this makes him the badass he should be. Looking forward to using him! Furthermore, his feat works on warbeasts, too. To put icing on his cake then, Deathmarch gives +2MAT and Vengeance, so it is useful without dying, too. Great changes in my eyes. He will see lots of playtime!

Tyrant Xerxis - No changes, solid badass already.

Supreme Aptimus Zaal - Soul Converter – Once per turn during its activation, this model can spend one fury point to give each Ancestral Guardian currently in its control area one soul token.  This action makes AGs much more interesting with him, even though only with him sadly. Anyhow, this creates a niche for him and I’ll try him at some point.

Void Seer Mordikaar – Gained Cull Soul, which makes him interesting in the regard that he can generate a lot of Fury for revives. Other than that, Void Lord only works on Void Spirits now which gives you two bullets if set up right. Other than that there are not many changes. He seems to be relying to be in the thick of the battle reviving stuff around him constantly. I liked his ‘shooty’ version, but I can live with that. Need to see how Cull Soul works out with him.

Other than that there were minor changes. Saxon Orrik is back to being quite horrible, seems they are preparing a Minion launch as his Recon gives pathfinder to friendly FACTION models in 5″. Somehow PP seems to oversteer quite  a bit in both directions. He just needed his skill to be made an action to avoid running/recon. Oh well. Rhino lost one POW on his tail for some reason, no biggie though.  Can’t wait to try out Hexeris though. He alone is worth this update and I gladly sacrifice Saxon for that, even though his model is quite awesome. We’ll see what the future brings.

We have a Highlander Tournament coming up next weekend. I am planning to bring sexy Hexy and blast the crap out of people. Not sure about the rest of the list yet though.

So long,

Mike
